Leonard E. East, 76, of Marshall, IL passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at his home following an extended illness. He was born November 9, 1946 in Palestine, IL, the son of Joe Leonard East and Nona L. Shook East who preceded him in death as well as a brother, Harold. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; his children, Travis E. East, Deb (Todd) Vincent and Brandi (Josh) Parcel all of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Josh Vincent, Caleb Vincent, Jacob Vincent, Courtney Washburn and Grayce Parcel; Carolyn’s children, Earl Hargis, Mark Hargis, Kelly Hargis, Shelley Murphy and Ericia Pruitt; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and the mother of his children,former wife, Dorothy Dashiell. He had been employed by Littlejohn Grain for 33 years prior to his retirement and had started his employment there as a mechanic and retired as a truck driver. Prior to working at Littlejohn Grain, he was a mechanic at VanWinkle’s Garage and had formerly operated a Marathon Station both at Martinsville. Leonard was a graduate of Martinsville High School and proudly served this nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 in the 25th Infantry. He attended Potter’s Hall Church. Services in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 1st at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be in the York Cemetery, rural West Union with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
