Lois Jean Daugherty, 85, of Marshall, IL passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born as a twin on October 15, 1938, the daughter of Dennis and Helen Carpenter Weir who preceded her in death as well as her twin brother Lloyd; brothers, Leon Weir and Stanley Weir; a sister, Carolyn Wallace and her former husband , Donald, who she married Nov. 6, 1956. Surviving are five children, Donald (Debbie) Daugherty of Honea Path, SC, Margaret (John) Wallon of West Terre Haute, IN, Richard (Missy) Daugherty of New Goshen, IN, Linda (Chuck) Murphy of Marshall, IL and Randy (Becky) Daugherty of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Donald “Bubsy”, Missy, Stevie, Mathew, Amanda, Travis, Brandi, Chris, Mick, Ricky, Christy, Jake, Daniel and Jenny; thirty four great grandchildren; siblings, Ruby St. John of West Union, IL, Milton Dwayne Weir of Annapolis, IL and Gerald “Buddy” Weir of Oswego, IL and several nieces and nephews. Lois had a lot of fun in life. She could be found going out with her friends to hear Karoke and dance Fridays at the VFW, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and playing bingo or rolling dice at Harlan Hall. She loved doing puzzles and taking care of the many flowers she had. During her younger years, she loved bowling, doing her ceramics and selling Avon for many years. She loved traveling where she got a passport to travel to where the boys would be stationed in Germany, Italy and the United States. She collected spoons, thimbles, tea sets and dolls. When the great grandkids needed a sitter, she loved babysitting them and being with them. Her little dog, Max and here birds were her main best friends and all of her bingo buddies. Services in honor of her life will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, Dec. 12th at Pearce Funeral Home with burial following in the St. Paul Cemetery, rural Clark Co. IL.
