Lorraine D. Brockman, 88, of Gardner, IL went to be with the Lord 2:46 PM on February 24, 2015 from the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Bayonet Point in Hudson, FL.
Lorraine was born Sept. 7, 1926 at Gardner, IL, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Sowers. She was raised in Gardner and graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School. On April 20th of 1946 she married Leonard Brockman of Marseilles, IL and they had eight children. Leonard preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2000.
Lorraine was an active member of the Braceville United Methodist Church and was a part of bible studies. She loved to sing, crochet, knit, quilt, travel and politics. She also had many pen pals throughout the United States and England.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lorraine was also preceded in death by a son, Loren E. Brockman; a daughter, Margaret Jo Brockman; grandson, Matthew Leonard Brockman; brothers, John Sowers, Archie Sowers, Harold Sowers and Bobby Sowers and sisters, Maxine Dite, Betty Huston, Jean Treasure, Juanita Marshall and Dorothy Muzzarelli.
Surviving Lorraine are her children, Pamela (David) Taylor of El Cajon, CA, Leonard (Debbie) Brockman of Virginia, Mark (Mary) Brockman of Port Richey, FL, Catherine Brockman of Illinois, Thomas Brockman of Nanaimo, Vancouver BC and Krista (Steve) Price of Marshall, IL; two sisters, Rebecca and Marsha Sowers of Gardner, IL; a sister-in-law, Sandra Sowers; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place in the Braceville United Methodist Church in Braceville, IL at 11:00 AM on March 28, 2015 with Rev. Bennett Woods officiating.
