Louis "Louie" Marvin, 93, of Marshall, IL passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his home.Louis was born on 3 July 1923, the youngest son of Ernest and Lillie Belle Davison Marvin.He left school after eighth grade to work on the farm with his father. With the advent of WWII, he left to fight the war and served this nation in the US Army. He was discharged 1 December 1945 and returned to Marshall. He married Betty L. Carpenter on 15 December 1945 in Marshall. They moved to Gary, IN, and he worked in the steel mills and Grantham's Auto Repair, eventually returning to Marshall, IL. He was employed by Prevo Motor company where he repaired cars, trucks, and farm machinery until his retirement. His wife preceded him in death on 12 February 2010; the following year he moved to the Villas of Holy Brook where he lived until 15 April 2017 when he returned to his home. Louie is survived by his daughter, Melody Anderson, of San Diego, CA, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 8 siblings: Olive Grindle, Reba Burns, Lillie Burns, Isabelle Marvin, Joye Monk, George Marvin, Charles Marvin, and Harold Marvin, as well as several nieces and nephews. During his life he was a member of the Freemasons, the VFW Post #5975, and Clark County Post #90 of the American Legion. In his spare time, Louie loved to fish, hunt small game, and spend time in his vegetable garden. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be 1 PM on Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with burial following in the Marshall Cemetery with military rites.
