Lura F. Wilson, 78, of Marshall, IL passed away 2:05 AM Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall. She was a retired Dietary Manager of Burnsides Community Care Center after 37 years of service. Following her retirement from the Burnsides Community Care Center she became a greeter at the Marshall Wal-Mart until she had to retired because of health reasons. Her pleasant personality and thoughtfulness to others will always be remembered at both places where she had been employed and to all those who knew her. She was born March 7, 1935 at Marshall, IL, the daughter of Warren and Cecile Sanders Smith. She married Donald H. Wilson Sr. on May 5, 1952 and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2004. Surviving are four sons, Donald H. (Susie) Wilson Jr. of Cortez, CO, Steven C. Wilson of Marshall, IL, Andrew N. (Vicky) Wilson of Sparta, IL and Jonathan R. (Amy) Wilson of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Donald H. Wilson III, David Wilson, Cassie Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Rachel Wilson, Danny Wilson, Amanda Suire and Joshua Wilson; six great grandchildren; four brothers, Harold (Sharon) Smith of Martinsville, IL, Wiley (Ann) Smith of Vero Beach, FL, Kenneth (Kay) Smith of Marshall, IL and George (Daralea) Smith of Marshall, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald W. smith. She was a member of the Marshall Missionary Baptist Church. For many years she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, served on the Hospitality Committee and assisted with the collection of church funds. She was a graduate of Marshall High School. She was a graduate of Marshall High School. Services in honor of her life will be 11:00 AM Thursday at the Marshall Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Cooper and Bro. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home and also one hour prior services at the church on Thursday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Marshall Missionary Baptist Church.
