Margaret Ruth Adams, 87, of Richmond, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away 4:35 PM Saturday, Feb. 22, 214 in the Golden Living Center - Golden Rule at Richmond. She was retired from the main office of GTE at Terre Haute, IN. She was born in Clark Co., IL on January 7, 1927 in Clark Co., IL, the daughter of Arthur Washburn and Mamie Fetters Washburn. She married Verner Adams on Nov. 20, 1943 at Marshall, IL and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in November of last year. Surviving are her husband, Verner; a daughter, Victoria Annette (Norman Douglas) Owens of Lynn, IN; two grandchildren, Derek Douglas (Monica) Owens of North Liberty, IN and Nikki Annette (Shon) Knoll of Lynn, IN; five great grandchildren, Ethan Owens, Wesley Owens, Annabella Ruth Owens, Levi Knoll and Shianna Knoll and three sisters, Mary Ellen Chambers of Valparaiso, IN, Harriett Jane Lee and Cynthia Joan Niswonger both of Terre Haute, IN. She was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Rose Couch. She was a life member of the VFW and American Legion Post #90 Auxiliaries of Marshall and the Marshall Women's club. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening and helped with many functions to help raise funds for the veteran's at the Danville Medical Facility and other veteran organizations. She and her husband attended monthly meetings at Danville, IL for POW's.
