Marilyn J. Maurer, 85, of Marshall, IL passed away 8:20 AM Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall.
She was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Clark Co., IL, the daughter of Arthur E. and Clara C. Schaefer Miller. She married Wm. Eugene "Jingo" Maurer on Aug. 14, 1952 at Marshall, IL and he preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 2006.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Linda Maurer and Jo Beard both of Marshall; a son, Bill (Susan) Maurer of Marshall; grandchildren, Scott (Jenny) Beard, Benjamin Beard, Joseph Beard and his companion, Betsey Monk, Riley (Ashley) Maurer, Kate (Anthony) Douglas and Molly (Brandon) Hardiman; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Kunce of Marshall, IL and a brother Art (Elaine) Miller of Marshall, IL. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lowell Kunce.
She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, the Faith Circle of the church and had volunteered at the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank. She had been employed as a bookkeeper at the former Don-Will Feed Store. She enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marilyn loved to read and traveled the world in books.
Services in honor of her life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday and 7:00 AM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank or to the Emmanuel United Methodist church. The family is truly appreciative for the loving and compassionate care she received from the staff while a resident at the Burnsides Community Care Center.
