Mary E. Farris, 100, of Marshall, IL passed away 5:05 AM Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Villa’s of Holly Book of Marshall. She served this nation in the Women’s Army Air Corps. After her discharge in 1945 she was employed at the US Pentagon and retired in 1982. Mary was born Oct. 9, 1918. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nora Ruth Setzer Farris and a brother, Roy Farris. Surviving are a sister, Una Boyer of Marshall; a brother, Ray Farris of Marshall; several nieces and nephews, Doris (Jack) Miller of Terre Haute, IN, Eva June (Bruce) Grimes of Terre Haute, IN, David (Karen) Farris of New Port Richey, FL, Jim (Susan) Farris of Dennison, IL, Mike (Julie) Farris of Dennison, IL, Michelle (Mike) Hershfelt of Decatur, IL, Pam (Les) Conine of Pocohantas, IL, Penny (Darrell) Plyman of Nicholasville, KY, Allen (Sue) Boyer of Marshall, IL, Vic (Penny) Boyer of Marshall, IL and Patty (John) Macke of Marshall, IL; several great nieces and nephews that include three she was God Mother to, Aaron, Amie and Blake and several great great nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Armstrong United Methodist Church, Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975. She was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, European African Mid Eastern Service Medal, Women’s Army’s Corps Medal, WW II Victory Ribbon and E.A.M.E. Medal. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the Farris Cemetery at Dennison, IL with Rev. Adam Penn officiating and military graveside rites conducted by Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to meet at the funeral home Thursday for procession to the cemetery at 9:30 AM.
