Mary Lou Laird, 93, of Marshall, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 25, 2018 in Burnsides Community Health Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 1, 1925 to Albert and Gertie Johnson Kile who preceded her in death. On June 28, 1952 she married the love of her life, Russell E. Laird who preceded her in death in February of 1969. She leaves behind two sisters, Eliza Nelle Arbuckle of Robinson, IL and Nina Ann Shipman of Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers, George O. (Betty) Kile of Annapolis, IL and Henry A. Kile of Columbus, GA; two sisters-in-law, Anna Kile of Danville, IL and Patty Kile of Spokane, Washington ; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was much loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Winona R. Burnam and Bertha Jackson and four brothers, William L. Kile, Wilbur W. Kile, Bert L. Kile and Albert Junior Kile. Mary Lou was a faithful member of the Marshall Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the Financial Secretary for many years, assisted with Sunday at Burnsides and served on the hospitality committee. She loved to bowl and was a very good bowler. She also helped teaching youngsters to bowl with the Marshall Junior Bowling League for many years. She was active in her community in her younger years in Home Extension, Clark County Fair Board and the Republican Women’s Club. She worked along side her husband in their business until his passing. She was a caregiver for a great niece and nephew, J.D. and Megan Bader for several years along with many other friends she was always there for. She will be long be remembered for her faith in God, her wonderful sense of humor, honesty, integrity and love for her family and friends. Services in honor of her life will be 10:30 AM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
