Mavis Matson Kile, 86, of Marshall, IL passed away with her daughter at her side 4:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2012 in the Burnsides Community Health Center at Marshall, IL. She was a retired public school teacher having taught in various Illinois schools at Deland-Weldon, Warrensburg, Metcalf, Martinsville, Marshall, Scottland and Chrisman. She was born Sept. 23, 1925 at Beecher City, IL, the daughter of Robert Matson and Alta Hedges Matson. She married Jesse D. Kile on June 3, 1951 at Beecher City, IL and he preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2006. Surviving are her children, Karen (Terry) Wehrmeyer of Terre Haute, IN and Kenton (Kim) Kile of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Melissa (Darin) Parker, Samantha (Fianc̩e' -Travis Lindsey) Wehrmeyer Katie Kile, Kurt Kile and Kelsey Kile; great grandchildren, Conner Wehrmeyer, Kynslee Parker, Khloe Parker and Dylan Lindsey and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Conard Matson and Hillard Matson. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Marshall. She was a graduate of the Beecher City High School and Easter Illinois University. She loved to write and had written for the Beecher City Journal. While at Burnsides Community Health Center she was called the Candy Lady. Much of her time was spent praying for others and she would also show support to many families at Burnsides in their time of need. Services in honor of her life will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the First Christian Church, 902 N. 6th St., Marshall, IL with Bro. John Cutshall officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:30 to 3:30 PM Monday in the Shaw Chapel at Burnsides Community Health Center and 5-8 PM Monday and prior services at the church. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
