Maxine Tharp, age 91, of Darwin, IL passed away at 2:55 PM Tuesday October 7, 2014 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.

She was born on May 17, 1923 in Orange Township, Clark County, IL to John and Mamie (Ingram) Troxel. She married Richard Tharp on January 30, 1940 in Terre Haute, IN and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1983. Maxine was a retired line supervisor form TRW in Marshall, IL.

She is survived by One daughter Gracie (Ron) Diesher of Marshall, IL., Two Sons Garry Tharp of Marshall, IL., and Rusty Tharp of Marshall, IL., Eight Grand Children Lisa Deshiell of Marshall, IL., Angela Adams of Paris, IL., Kristi Whitacre of Marshall, IL., Leslie Taggart of Charleston, IL., Sarah Grissom of Colorado, Allison Tharp of Minnesota, Johnathan Tharp of Franklin, IN., and Jason Tharp of Terre Haute, IN., and several Nieces, Nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son Larry Tharp, Three Brothers Ben Troxel, LeRoy Troxel, and Ralph Troxel, and one sister Isabell Kiger.

Maxine was a lifelong resident of Darwin and enjoyed sitting on her front porch visiting with neighbors and friends. She was manager of the Darwin store, caretaker of the Darwin Cemetery, graduate of Darwin Grade school, avid gardener, changed her own oil, sided her home, and could hang wall paper beautifully. She was a great cook and pie baker. She devoted her life to caring for her special needs son, Rusty.

Funeral Services will be held at the Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, IL at 10:00 Am Saturday October 11, 2014 with Rev. Judy Williams Officiating. Burial will follow in the Darwin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday October 10, 2014 and from 7:00 AM until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home.
