Michael Wayne Cooper, 57, of Marshall, IL passed away 10:45 PM Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019 in the Gibson Family Center For Hospice Care at Terre Haute, IN. Growing up on a farm, he started farming in 1985. In 2003 he was recognized as the Clark County Conservation Farmer of the Year. Mike was born Oct. 5, 1961 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of Wayne and Edith Pickens Cooper who both preceded him in death. Surviving are a sister, Tess Long of Westfield, IN; a niece, Christina Eslinger of Fishers, IN; two nephews, Jeffrey Long of Indianapolis, IN and Brian Long of Carmel, IN and a great nephew, Cameron Eslinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lonnie Long. He was a 1979 graduate of Marshall High School and a member of the Clark Co. Farm Bureau. He loved spending time in the Smokey Mountains, tractor pulling, watching football and learning more about the Civil War. Mike was also a supporter of Clark County 4-H. Private family graveside services will be held at the South Vigo “Black” Cemetery with Pastor Joe Irwin officiating.
