Michael D. “Ben” Shotts, 67, of Martinsville, IL passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was born May 26, 1959 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Ernest Robert “Bob” Shotts and Marilyn Brosman Shotts who preceded him in death as well as his grandparents. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Kim Shotts; a son, Ross (April) Shotts of Martinsville, IL; two grandchildren, Ethan and Hayden; one that he thought as a son, Scott Suprenant of Martinsville, IL; a sister, D’Anna Shotts of Nigeria, West Africa; a brother, Byron (Karrie) Shotts of Martinsville, IL; a niece, Vivienne; a nephew, Vaughn and many other relatives and friends. Ben was a lifelong member of the Martinsville Baptist Church. For over twenty years he has been a member and current chairman of the Clark Co. Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a graduate of Martinsville High School and Lakeland College where he received an Associates Degree in Agriculture. Mike loved all aspects of farming. watching videos about farming and cooking. He truly enjoyed crop gazing. His grandchildren and family was important to him and he truly enjoyed spending time with them. A gathering of family and friends will be 12 Noon to 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 4th in the fellowship room of the Martinsville Baptist Church with a service in honor of his life starting at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Martinsville. In lieu of flowers, his family request memorial contributions be made to the Martinsville Future Farmers of America.
