Modena Elaine Batey, 77, of Hobart, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away Monday, October 27, 2014.

She was a retired employee from the EJ&E Railroad after 37 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Hobart First United Methodist Church of Hobart and was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall. She was born July 17, 1937, the daughter of Edward Elston and Ruth A. Bradley Batey.

Surviving are a brother, Ronald (Carol) Batey of Hobart, IN; nieces, Ruth Ann Batey of Crown Pointe, IN and Susan Elaine Batey of Hobart, IN; a nephew, Edward Charles (Lisa) Batey, of Winfield, IN; great nieces, Alyssa Ann Batey and Addison Elizabeth Batey; a nephew, Robert Batey and a niece, Valerie Batey both of Marshall, IL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Albert Batey.

Modena was a 1955 graduate of Marshall High School.

Services in honor of her life will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, rural Marshall.
