Nina Lurlyne Goekler, 98, of Marshall, IL passed away 8:08 AM Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall.
She was born July 25, 1916 at Cates, IN, the daughter of Riley and Mamie Lamoine Allen. She married Ralph Goekler on Oct. 30, 1932 at Marshall, IL and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1981.
Surviving are two sons, Lewis (Orpha) Goekler and Allen (Peggy) Goekler both of Marshall, IL; a daughter, Elaine Gruber of Lake Villa, IL; grandchildren, Susan (Bill) Maurer, Amy (Paul) Cannady, Sara (John) Tarble, Kimberly (Michael) Pearman, Tracy (Art) Bragg, Eric Gruber and Lori (Eric) Ficht; 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Gruber; two grandsons, Jeff Goekler and Timothy Goekler; three brothers and 2 sisters.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall for 69 years, a member of OES Chapter #739 for 68 years and the Pythian Sisters for many years. She had served as Past Worthy Matron of OES and had held several positions locally and state wide in both the OES and Pythian Sisters and a long time member of the Marshall women's club.
Services in honor of her life will be 2:30 PM Tuesday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday with an OES service at 7:30 PM.
