Orpha C. Goekler, 89, of Marshall, IL passed away 4:55 AM Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She was born Aug. 8, 1932 at Charleston, IL, the daughter of Claude P. and Ruth Lanman Bower. On July 15, 1956 she married Lewis Goekler at Charleston, IL. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Susan (Bill) Maurer, Amy (Paul) Cannady and Sara (John) Tarble all of Marshall, IL; grandchildren, Riley (Ashley) Maurer, Kate (Anthony) Douglas, Molly (Brandon) Hardiman, Jacob (Jessica) Cannady, Abby (Eric) Adamski, Logan Cannady (Callie Keys), Josh (Leslie) Tarble, Whitney (Steve) Boyer and Mackenzie Tarble and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Goekler and 3 brothers, Ray Bower, Lowell Bower and Dwain Bower. Orpha was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall and was a member of the Suzanna Wesley Circle of the church. She was a member of the P.E.O. Chapter at Paris, IL and the Delta Zeta Sorority. She was formerly a member of the Antique Study Club, the Garden Club and the Marshall Women’s Club. She was a graduate of Eastern IL University and was a retired teacher. She had also served as Home Advisor for Effingham County, IL. A drive through visitation will be 1-3 PM Sunday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall. A private graveside service will follow the visitation at Marshall Cemetery. When approaching the funeral home for the drive through visitation, please enter the parking area by approaching the funeral home at 5th and Maple Streets directly west of the funeral home.
