Paul Richard Erwin, 85, of Casey, IL went to his eternal home 3:00 AM Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at Casey Health Care Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 16, 1933 in Clark County, IL, the son of Leslie Joseph and Clara Ulrey Erwin. He married Martha Louise Duzan on December 31, 1996 at Willis Chapel in Martinsville and she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Lisa Diane Erwin (Steve Carpenter); three grandchildren, Whitney (Joni) Devall, Jerod (Jami) Devall and Alanah Devall; step grandson, Michael Carpenter; seven great step granddaughters, Hannah, Katie, Mashayla, Lexi, A.J., Lani and Evie; a step-daughter, Deborah Kay Hornbrook (Steven) Rogers, two step grandchildren Lisa Suzanne Rogers (Andy Myles) and David Michael; Rogers; four great step-granddaughters, Lexi, Hannah, Kamilah, Kamarah and a great step grandson, Kainen. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ada Hunt, Lucille Layman, Jane Lashbrook; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Norman E. Duzan and a sister-in-law, Mary K. Duzan (Doug) Athey. Paul went to school in Martinsville, IL and was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church in rural Casey. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Besides his regular job as a set-up and delivery man for Biggs and Richards, he worked as a truck driver for Casey and Parker Townships. He farmed part time and was the best tree trimmer in the country. His hobby was to purchase ¾ ton pickup trucks, remove their beds and put flat beds on the with electric hoists. Most of his trucks are still being used. Services in honor of his life will be2:00 PM Tuesday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Pastors Marvin Oakley and Randy Black officiating. Visitation will be after 12 Noon until service time.It is requested that those in attendance dress casual. Private burial will be at the Casey Washington Street Cemetery at a later date.
