Polly Jo (Taylor) Logan, age 86, passed away 9:00 AM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at her home in Marshall, Illinois. Polly grew up in Isola, Mississippi where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Jack Logan. After marrying in 1957, Jack and Polly moved to Illinois and enjoyed a 60 year marriage. They moved back to and retired in Marshall in the early 1980’s. Devoted to her husband and two sons, Polly was a wonderful, doting wife and mother. When not taking care of her family and corralling two energetic, athletic boys, Polly spent her time volunteering in the communities where she lived. She was an active member of the PTA in Marshall. Polly enjoyed quilting and worked with area quilters to promote the art of quilting with displays in the Wilmington Library. She was active in the Garden Clubs of Wilmington and Marshall and a member of “Marshall Main Street”. In Marshall, Polly received the “Marshall in Motion” Marshall Pride award for her many years of service supporting the citizens of her community. Her many volunteer activities included the “Lunch Buddy” program and assisting with Meals on Wheels for 12 years. As a member of the guild at Burnsides, Polly devoted many hours in the activity department. For over 25 years, her easy smile and friendly personality brought joy to the staff and residents at the Burnside Nursing facility including many, many mornings over those 25 years volunteering at the food and clothing store. Polly was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Marshall. She loved baking and her skills were enjoyed by “Kids for Christ” and the “Children’s Camp.” Polly is preceded in death by her husband Jack Richard Logan Sr., her father, Guy Taylor, Sr., her mother Marie (Carl) Taylor, brother, Guy Taylor, Jr. and sister, Jean Taylor Spikes. She is survived by her sister, Judy Taylor, her children, Jack Richard Logan, Jr., and Mark (Linda) Logan, and her 4 grandchildren: Charlie, Henry, Maggie, and Bobby. A funeral service and celebration of Polly’s life will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, March 4 at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Wiggs officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 12 Noon prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank.
