Rex R. Heine, 83, of Marshall, IL passed away 1:50 AM Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020 in Marshall Rehabilitation and Nursing. He was a retired from teaching from Marshall High School and had owned and operated an accounting and tax service in Terre Haute, IN. Rex was born March 1, 1937 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of Adolph and Mary Ufer Heine. He married Betty Legan on Aug. 12, 1972 in Annunciation Catholic Church at Brazil, IN. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Joel Heine of Marshall, Jacob (Katie) Heine of Norfolk, VA and Robert Moore; grandchildren, Cesya (Dominic) Bacon, Donovan Heine and Amelia Heine; a brother, Fred Heine of Terre Haute, IN and nephews, Eric O’Brien of Terre Haute, IN, Marc O’Brien of Phoenix, AZ and Ed O’Brien of Boston, Mass. He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Heine and a sister, Paulina O’Brien. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at Casey, IL. He was a graduate of Ashboro High School where he was valedictorian of the class and was on the basketball team.He received his Masters Degree from Indiana State Teachers College and had received his principal’s license. While in high school he helped on the family farm and later in his life had assisted with the Salvation Army Drive, was a member of the Marshall Lions Club and had served on the Clark County Fair Board. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. A memorial mass will be celebrated 5:00 PM Friday at St. Boromeo Catholic Church in Casey with Rev. Augustine Koomson as celebrant. Friends are invited to meet the family after 4:00 PM Friday at the church. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Brazil IN Concert Band.
