Richard A. Beabout, 85, of Marshall, IL passed away 12:10 PM Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021 in Roudebush VA Medical Center at Indianapolis, IN. He retired from Mecco Mfg. Paris, IL following after 25 years of service. Previous to employment at Meco, he was employed by Caterpillar Corp. at Aurora, IL for 14 years. Richard was born June 16, 1936 at Martinsville, IL, the son of Arthur Beabout and Nettie Kitchen Beabout. On July 4, 1955 he married Betty Copper at Martinsville, IL. Surviving are his wife, Betty; two sons, Richard Lee Beabout of Terre Haute, IN and Michael Beabout of Marshall, IL; a sister-in-law, Linda Beabout of Casey, IL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three siblings, Glen Beabout, Rosemary Hill and Fenton Beabout. He was a member of the former Brick United Methodist Church at West Union. An avid collector of Desoto automobiles, he was a member of the National Desoto Club and a member of the Desoto Club of IL of which he was a past president. He was a 1954 graduate of Martinsville High School and had served this nation in the U.S. Army. For many years he served on the military graveside rites honor squad and was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion, the 40&8 and the AMVETS. Services in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Friday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be in the Ohi0 Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by Clark Co. Post #90 and VFW Post #5975. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
