Richard L. “Dick” Mail, 85, of Marshall, IL passed away 7:35 PM Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 in the emergency room at Union Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. He retired as a Chemical Engineer from Marathon Oil Co. at Robinson. Following graduation from Robinson High School he enlisted in the US Navy. Following his time in the military, he received his degree in Chemical Engineering at Arizona State University. Dick was born Oct. 14, 1933 at Robinson, IL, the son of Ralph “Rod” and Kathryn Lewis Mail. He married Betty I. Joab on Sept. 11, 1976 at Marshall, IL. In addition to his wife he survived by a daughter, Janelle I. Mail of Marshall; a grandson who he truly adored and loved spending time with, Tyler Lewis Shaffer Mail; two daughters from a previous marriage, Cecilia Hickman of Idaho and Michelle Brazell of Oklahoma and her son, Nathaniel Brazell two brothers-in-law, Paul (Judy) Joab and Jerry Joab both of Marshall: a sister-in-law, Mary Joab of Terre Haute, IN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bob Joab. He served this nation in the US Navy as a Seabee in Korea. He was a member of VFW Post #5975, Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and the Robinson Elks. An outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish and garden. Services in honor of his life will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Burial will military graveside honors will be in the Marshall Cemetery.
