On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, Richard “Bones” DePasse passed away peacefully while listening to his favorite radio Station, The Whip. Rick was born on December 2, 1957 in Terre Haute, IN to Dick and M. Eileen McCarty DePasse. He grew up in Clark Center and moved to The Bloomington/Heyworth area with his then wife and kids in 1988 where he worked at Diamond Star Motors for over 20 years. In 2006 he moved to Florida to be closer to his son. A couple years later they decided to move to Colorado where he spent the last 11 years working at Dean Contracting as a fence fabricator. In February of this year he chose to take early retirement and moved to Palmetto, FL. After his diagnosis in July, he moved back to Marshall, IL and has been surrounded by family and friends during this difficult time. Rick worked hard his whole life, knew how to have a good time, was a lifelong learner and wore his heart on his sleeve. He wouldn’t hesitate to give you the shirt off his back and then buy you a drink. A die hard Nascar fan, he rarely missed a race and loved spending time at the track or watching the race at his favorite bar. He loved animals and always made sure the bird feeders were full and would play fetch and pet the dogs for hours. He had a passion for reading and exploring our nation’s history. Rick was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Abigayle. He is survived by his parents; his three children, Sammantha (Jon) Rose, Matthew (Coleen) DePasse and Bethany DePasse; grandchildren, Ava, Beckett, Cala, Max, Pip, Kaylee and Nicholas; his previous wives and mothers to his kids, Dawn Macke and Tammy DePasse; his siblings, Susan (Dennis) Clapp, Brian (Kim) DePasse and Tom (Julie) DePasse and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no formal funeral service, but friends are welcomed to the Corner Bristo on Saturday, November 14th starting at 3:00 PM not only to share grief, but also a time to share happy memories of Rick’s life. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall VFW Post #5975 Relay for Life American Cancer Society Team. Online condolences are being accepted at pearcefuneralservices.com.
