Robert G. Stephen, 90, of Martinsville, IL passed away 7:45 AM Friday, March 11, 2016 in Heartland Manor at Casey, IL.
He was a businessman in Martinsville. He was owner of Stephen’s Space Rentals and had owned and operated Stephen’s Bins for many years. Bob had owned and operated a television sales and repair store for many years and had also farmed.
He was born October 8, 1925 in Clark Co., IL, the son of Benjamin and Myrtle Brosman Stephen. He first married Thelma Hall who preceded him in death and later married Mildred Hall Newkirk.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Neoma Mullen of Martinsville, IL and Gloria Scott of Westfield, IL; a son, Larry Stephen of Martinsville, IL; a step daughter, Sandra (Larry) Ledermann of Hendersonville, TN; a step son, Rick (Franda) Newkirk of Charleston, IL; eleven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lou Stephen; two grandchildren, Chad Mullen and Michelle Lowery; two sons-in-law, Ernest Bill Mullen and Steve Scott and three brothers, Dwight Stephen, Max Stephen and Rex Stephen.
He was a member of the Martinsville Christian Church and Clark Lodge #603 of Martinsville. He was a graduate of Casey High School.
Services in honor of his life will be 10:30 AM Saturday at the Martinsville Christian Church with Bro. Randy Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday and also after 9:30 AM Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
