Robert L. Maurer, 81, of Marshall, IL passed away 3:45 AM Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 in the Burnsides Community Health Center at Marshall, IL.
He was a retired farmer and real estate salesman having last sold for Court House Reality in Marshall.
Bob was born March 8, 1934 in Clark Co., IL, the son of Wilbur "Buck" and Sara Catherine Shonk Maurer. He married Deloris Kirchner Dec. 24, 1956 at Marshall.
Surviving are his wife, Delores: three sons, George Maurer, Noble Maurer and Roy (Denise) Maurer; a daughter, Sara (Jim) Burdick all of Marshall, IL; grandchildren, Chris, Cayla, Emily, Ellissa, Elaina, Taylor, Dalton, Jesse, Demi and Alyssa; four great grandchildren, Quinton, Cooper, Maylee and Bella; a brother, Dean (Maxine) Maurer of Marshall; two sisters, Rosa Lee Smith of Marshall and Betty Wright of Paris; a sister-in-law, Millena Maurer of Marshall and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Maurer Jr. and Harold "Bud" Maurer and three sisters, Irene Eldredge, Maybelle Wilson and Mary Maurer.
He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, AMVETS, Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and the Antique Power Club. He had formerly been a 4-H Leader and was a 1954 graduate of Marshall High School. He served this nation from 1956 to 1958 in the engineering battalion of the US Army in Germany.
Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tawnya Fairchild officiating. Burial will be in the Forsythe Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday and prior services on Thursday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Antique Power Club.
