Rosa Edith McKinney, 97, of Marshall, IL passed on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Providence Health Center following a brief illness. Rosa was born August 21, 1922 in Clark County, IL to Lafe and Edith Marrs. She was preceded in death b y her father and mother, husband, Robert McKinney, a son Edmond Knapp, brothers Ralph Marrs and Joseph Marrs and her beloved dog Cinder. She is survived by a sister Audrey Webster of Terre Haute, IN; a sister-in-law Barbara Marrs of Marshall, IL; a step-son, Mark (Marilyn) McKinney of Sun City, AZ; nieces, Linda Pearson of Terre Haute, Jo Ann (Ron) Furgeson of Paris, IL, Rosalee (Jerry) Vickery and Brenda (Ray) Melton both of Marshall, IL; nephews, Stephen (Janice) Pearson Sr. of Terre Haute, IN, Albert (Sandy) Marrs of Paris, IL, Bob (Sylvia) Marrs of Athens, OH and Terry (Connie) Marrs of Terre Haute, IN; great nieces, Kelli (Brian) Furgeson and Shannon (Jonathan) Jones and Lori Marrs of Paris, IL, Brit (Michael) Cardarelli of Nashville, TN, Amanda (Blake) Pardue of Oklahoma City, OK, Ellen Melton of Marshall, IL; great-nephews, Ike (Katie) Vickery of Terre Haute, IN, Stephen (Tonya) Pearson Jr. of Terre Haute, IN and Alan (Ashley) Marrs of Paris, IL and several great-great nieces and nephews. Rosa touched the lives of many people through her work as a beautician and active involvement in community organizations. In her working years, Rosa owned beauty shops in Kansas, Marshall and Paris, IL. Rosa was the owner and operator of the Technique Beauty College in Paris, IL. Rosa attended the First United Church in Marshall, IL. Her community involvements included the Optimist Club, Burnsides Guild, Marshall Women’s Club, Marshall Art Guild, Garden Club and Friends of the Library. She did volunteer work at the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank and the Burnsides Nursing Home. Rosa was an accomplished golfer, bridge player and artist. She was an avid reader who completed a crossword puzzle each day. She was a fashionista who loved shopping, traveling and spending time with her family. Services in honor of her life will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Sabo officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
