Roy Emil Prewett, 89, of Greenwood, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL, passed away 8:25 AM Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his home. He was a retired farmer and was retired from the Marshall School District. He was born Feb. 14, 1924 in Douglas Twp. Of Clark Co., IL, the son of Charles Robert and Lauretta Kathryn Becker Prewett. He married Anna Ruth Crecelius on Sept. 2, 1956 in the Union Christian Church at Terre Haute, IN. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Jennie Prewett of Greenwood, IN and Judie Prewett of Terre Haute, IN. He was preceded in death by a son, John Roy Prewett in 1977 and his siblings, Richard Quick Prewett, Clarence Granville Prewett, Robert Dan Prewett, Kathryn Sue Prewett Leaveck and George Louis Prewett. Roy was a 1942 graduate of Marshall Twp. High School and he with Don McNary were co-captains of the 1940- 1941 Wabash Valley Basketball Team champions. He was a former member of 4-H and FFA and always enjoyed farm life. He developed a great ability as a carpenter. He retired from the Marshall Schools in 2005 and was honored by the Marshall School Board with a plaque and special ceremony for his many years of devoted service . He also served on the election board and the ASCS boards representing Anderson Twp. He was a member of Marshall Lodge #133 AF & AM and Riley OES Chapter #22 where he was worthy patron. An avid horseman, he raised and trained Quarter Horses and in 1951 his horse, Dixie, was the IL Champion Cutting Horse. In 1958 he became an ordained Deacon of the Christian Church. He accepted Christ as his savior at the age of 6 and was baptized at Blizzard Ford on Big Creek near Marshall. Services in honor of his life will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
