Ruby Ann Paulsen, 92, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at 4:30 PM surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 24, 1931 to Alton & Kathryn (Bradford) Blankenship in Marshall. She married Ralph H. Paulsen, March 28, 1948 in Oliver, IL. She is survived by her sons, Ralph (Deborah) Paulsen of Hartwell, GA; Jerry (Karin) Paulsen of West Union; Robert (Lynette) Paulsen of Kimberly City, MO; daughters, Deborah (James) Kramer of Decatur; Sharon Darlene (Bobby Joe) Francis of Marshall; grandchildren: Janet Paulsen, Christopher (Christi Lynn) Paulsen; Peter Paulsen; Jeremy (Sabrina) Paulsen, Justin (Karyn) Paulsen; Stessie Dalhl, Carl Paulsen; Craig (Kim) Kramer, Julie (Mathew) Ford; Jeff (Tonya) Francis, and Jacob (Jenny) Francis. Ruby was also a great-grandmother to twenty –three great-grandchildren. She was a loving sister to Alberta Siverly, Shirley (Emery) Shumaker, Brenda Blankenship Beasley, Dona (Danny) Sanders and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Martha and Aleta and brothers, Charles and Sonny. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Faith Mickey of West Plaines, MO. The greatest joy of her life was her children, being a grandmother to her grandchildren, and being “Nana” to her great-grandchildren. She was also a loving care giver to her parents, husband and grandchildren. Ruby’s hobbies included tending to her hummingbirds and her flower garden, quilting with her sisters and the Marshall Baptist Church Loving Hands group whose quilts were donated to the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi. Ruby greatly enjoyed her sister trips. You could also find her supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their many youth sporting events. She was a faithful member of the Marshall Baptist Church and was a Preschool Sunday school teacher for many years. Ruby Paulsen was known for her cooking, especially her chicken noodles and lasagna. The family would like to thank Dr. Denise Pine-Mattis, Andrea Warner NP and their nursing staff, Sarah Busch Lincoln Hospice, as well as, Teresa Speros, Naomi Gates and Patty Garner for fulfilling her wishes of being able to stay home in her final months. In addition, the family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to her daughter, Sharon Darlene Francis, for her selfless and loving devotion to Ruby’s care over many years. She fulfilled her promise to her father, Ralph Paulsen, to take care of Ruby after his passing. Services in honor of her life will be 12 Noon Monday, March 6th, at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery.
