Sara JoAnn Donehue passed away at age 94 on January 23, 2025. She lived a long and remarkable life devoted to her family and faith. JoAnn was known for her strength of character, protective nature, and generous heart. Born to Joe and Ella Eubanks in Omaha, Illinois, she was their only child. JoAnn married Lloyd Donehue, Jr., in January 1949, and they enjoyed 43 years together until Lloyd’s passing in 1992. Her proudest achievements included their five daughters, seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, she demonstrated unwavering strength. Her faith, love, constancy, and loyalty were anchors for her family and many lifelong friendships. A devoted mother, JoAnn worked tirelessly to ensure her children had opportunities to pursue their interests and dreams. Her dedication and determination led her to become a licensed beautician and businesswoman, a skilled seamstress, a talented cook, an antique collector, a master bridge player, and an avid golfer. JoAnn’s support was instrumental in Lloyd’s career progression, which took them from Illinois to Kansas to California and Oklahoma. In 2011, JoAnn returned to her home state of Illinois, later moving to Indiana for skilled nursing care. JoAnn was a 50-year member of the May Chapter #783 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois and had served as her chapter’s Worthy Matron. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, daughter Jera Brandolino, and many beloved friends and extended family. JoAnn is survived by her children JoEllen Rich-Vadas (Jim), Jane Housley, Jeanette Cronin (Jim), and Joyce Donehue; son-in-law Michael Brandolino; grandchildren Sarah Lycan (Darren), Douglas Rich (Molly), Meghan Haynes (Lance), Amanda Parish (Todd), Ashley Schrouf (Grady), Justin Brandolino (Elizabeth), and Jasper Brandolino (Elizabeth); and great-grandchildren Emerie, Donovan, Miles, Emma, Griffin, Maeve, Dylan, Aubree, Elanor, Owen, Lucas, and Liam. The family will deeply miss her loving presence in their lives. They would like to thank the Springhill Village Nursing Hospital staff in Terre Haute, Indiana, for their care and compassion during JoAnn’s time with them. Funeral services for JoAnn will be held in July, followed by her burial at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City alongside her husband. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, Illinois.
