Searoba Mae Deisher Mascher, 94, of Marshall, Illinois, entered into the arms of Jesus on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 8, 1929 in Wabash County, Illinois to Earl and Myrtle (Hutcheson Higby) Deisher. On July 8, 1951 she married Clyde D. Mascher of Newton, Illinois Searoba was an LPN in the 1950s and 60s. She went back to school in the Late 60s and received her associate degree at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, IL. She continued her education at the University of Evansville, receiving her bachelor’s in education in History/Political Science with a Psychology minor. The next step in her education took her to Indiana State where she completed her master’s in educational psychology in 1976. She continued to study at Indiana State and received her Educational Specialty in Educational Psychology. God always directed Searoba’s career. She was a nurse, a Director of a Day Care Center and taught at Wabash Valley College. She was the Director of the Study Skills Center at Lincoln Trail College for 30 years where she developed the Peer Counseling program, taught several classes, and was a big supporter of the LTC teams, attending may basketball games throughout the years. Searoba was an active member of Marshall First United Methodist Church. She was also still active in Eastern Star, Home Extension, Rotary, SUAA, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was talented in many things including sewing. But her true love was gardening and baking pies. She was a true servant, always willing to do whatever needed to be done when asked. Searoba is survived by her three daughters: Mary (Roger) Buss of Milford, IN; Becky (Reese) Jacobs of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and Helen (Kirk) Ericson of Waterford, WI; Four Grandchildren: Brandon (Jenn) Jacobs, Courtney (Grayson) Holliday, Rebecca Ericson and Melissa Ericson. Preceding Searoba in death were her parents; her husband Clyde D. Mascher; her sister Avonna Neikirk, a baby sister Estrella Deisher, and a brother Carl Deisher. Visitation will be Friday Feb. 2, 2024 from 4pm – 7pm at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, Illinois with an Eastern Star Service at 7pm. Funeral services will be Saturday Feb. 3, 2024 at 10:30AM at Marshall First United Methodist Church, with visitation from 9:30-10:30 before the service. Rev. Bill Wiggs will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Newton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marshall First United Methodist Church.
