Sonja Ann Prevo, 67, of Marshall, IL passed away at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, IN on May 14, 2021, while surrounded by her family and close friends. Sonja was born December 8, 1953 in Terre Haute, IN. She was the daughter of James A. and Norma L. Prevo, both of Marshall, IL. She married Craig McNary on December 8, 1995 in Las Vegas and he survives. Also surviving are brother, Karl R. Prevo, 66, of Marshall, IL; sister Greta K. McKenzie (Sean) 62, of Fishers, IN; brother, James A. Prevo, 53, of Marshall, IL; nephews, Alex Mellas, Gabriel Mellas, Skyler Kirby, and Caleb McNary, and nieces Alexis McKenzie and Ally McKenzie, plus many many loving cousins. For 15 years, Sonja served as the Director of the Marshall Ambulance Service and as a Level III Paramedic herself. Her greatest professional accomplishment was to take the Ambulance Service from a basic skilled center to the highest-rated skilled center among ambulances services. Additionally, Sonja served and was still serving as Deputy Coroner for Clark County. Sonja’s great love of animals included equine care of her many horses and mules, trail rides with friends and family, her beloved Russian Borzoi dogs, and her many barn cats. She was a founding member of the Twilight Riders’ Club of Oliver, IL. Sonja was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a social services activist with Helping Hands of Marshall, IL. Like her father and mother before her, she made strong friendships with persons with special needs, looking out for them throughout their lives. A time of visitation, sharing of memories and condolences to her family will be 4-7 PM Tuesday, May 18th at Pearce Funeral Home. A service in honor of her life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. It is requested that those in attendance practice Covid-19 restriction by wearing a face covering and social distancing when possible.
