Susan A. Norton, 78, of Marshall, IL passed away 10:23 AM Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 in the Casey Health Care Center at Casey, IL.
She and her husband were the former owners of Norton's Soft Water Service and the Do Quick Laundry Mat both of Marshall. She was born Dec. 17, 1935 at Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Oliver B. Brown and Delores Adeline Sappington Brown. She married Ronald L. Norton on April 14, 1956 at Terre Haute, IN and he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2007.
Surviving are her children, Mark (Darcy) Norton of Princeton, IN, Jane (David) Williams of Martinsville, IL and James Norton of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Chris Norton of Princeton, IN, Dr. Dustin (Kristen) Norton of Durham, NC, Eliza (Steve) Smith of Westfield, IL, Jennifer (Jason) Ogle of Martinsville, IL and Jeremy (Abby) Williams of Martinsville, IL; great grandchildren, Laryssa Norton, Allison Norton, Dalanee Smith, Brody Smith, Grady Smith and Hudson Williams; three brothers, Thomas Brown of Indianapolis, IN, Timothy Brown of Indianapolis, IN and David (Gwyn) Brown of Sterling, IL; a sister-in-law, Joan Ostrander of Lenox, Mass and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Judy Brown.
Sue was a faithful and devoted member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she had served as a trustee and the financial secretary. She had been a member of the Clark County Homemakers where she served on the board and participated in the Tuesday Morning Bowling League where she also served in various offices. She had been a member of the PTA and had also been a Den Mother.
She was a 1953 graduate of State High School in Terre Haute and had always been interested in assisting with her class reunions. She and her husband thoroughly enjoyed going to their grandkids sporting events for many years and was known as a mom who was willing to transport not only her kids, but other kids as well to all types of functions.
Services in honor of her life and a time of sharing memories will be 10:00 AM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday and prior services Monday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Marshall Cemetery Association.
