Verner Adams, 92, of Richmond, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away 2:05 AM Monday, Aug. 15, 2016.
He was retired from Anaconda at Terre Haute, IN.
Verner was born May 6, 1924 in Edgar Co., IL, the son of Fred Victor Adams and Mabel H. Moore Adams. He married Margaret Ruth Washburn on Nov. 20, 1943 at Marshall, IL and she preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2014.
Surviving are a daughter, Victoria Annette (Norman Douglas) Owens of Lynn, IN; two grandchildren, Derek Douglas (Monica) Owens of New Liberty, IN and Nikki Annette (Shon) Knoll of Lynn, IN and five great grandchildren, Ethan Owens, Westley Owens, Belle Owens, Levi Knoll and Shianna Knoll. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frank Adams and Walter Adams and two sisters, Mary Hammond and Alice Marie Adams.
During WW II, Verner served in the US Army gaining the rank of SGT. During his time serving this country he was missing in action and was a prisoner of war in Germany. Verner was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion , VFW Post #5975 and a former member of the Marshall Cemetery Board. He had helped on the Turner Christmas Tree farm, loved to mushroom hunting and fishing.
Services in honor of his life will be 12:30 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy Tomich officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be after 11:30 AM Sat. at the funeral home.
