Wayne E. Evans, 90, of Marshall, IL passed away 10:05 AM Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall.
He retired in 1988 from the First National Bank of Marshall after 35 years of service. Wayne was born May 11, 1924 in Clark Co., IL, the son of Henry Roosevelt Evans and Zola Nidey Evans. He married Geneva Angel on Dec. 12, 1964 at the Marshall Baptist Church of Marshall. Surviving are his wife, Geneva; two children, Beth (Greg) Hutchison of Milan, MI and Alan Evans of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren, Josh (Paige) Cutright and Kelli (Ryan) Finch; brothers and sisters, Warren (Jan) Evans, LeRoy (Joyce) Evans, Burton Dee (Nancy) Evans, Verlin (Linda) Evans, Max (Connie) Evans, Marilyn (Ray) Wells and Shirley Dawson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Sylvia Stephen, Vivian Miller and Erma Angel.
He was a devoted member of the Marshall Baptist Church and was active with the Gideon Camp of Casey, IL. He was a member of Marshall Lodge #133 AF & AM and O.E.S. Chapter #739 of Marshall. Wayne served this nation in the US Army in the 104th Infantry Division of Timberwolves. He was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion.
Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Marshall Baptist Church. A luncheon will be held for family at the church following the services. Graveside services will be 12:30 PM Saturday in Plymouth Cemetery, rural West York, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Friday and also 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the church.
