Wilbur A. Hutchens, 82, of Marshall, IL passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at his home following and extended illness. He was born March 8, 1938 at Gustine, CA, the son of Harlan Hutchens Sr. and Bessie G. Rhoades Hutchens who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Auld, Harlan Hutchens Jr. and Eleanor Hutchens. He is survived by his wife, Martha Morecraft Hutchens who he married March 2, 1958 at the First Christian Church of Marshall; two daughters, Terry Lee Day and her husband, Dennis of St. Louis, MO and Teresa Hutchens and her special friend, Rod Miller of Marshall; grandchildren, Patrick Day, Tiffany Allen, Laura (Josh) Akers, John Novak, Timothy (Amy) Novak and Janell (Steve) Hinkelman; great grandchildren, Sebastion Day, Nicolas Allen, J.D. Allen, Earl Akers, Mayson Novak, Teddy Akers, Liam Novak and Esther Akers.; his siblings, Herb (Donna) Hutchens, Frances (Bob) Kraemer, Jane (David) Silverberg and Douglas “Butch” (Susie) Hutchens; many nieces and nephews and a beloved family friend, Susie Wilson. Wilbur was proud of his military career and retired after 20 years of service from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of a Master SGT. He was a member of the Five Points Christian Church, VFW Post #5975 and Marshall Lodge #133 AF & AM. He graduated from Martinsville High School and received his Associates Degree while serving in the Air Force. Following his retirement he spent a great deal of time gardening, tinkering around in his shed and spending time with family and friends. Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM Monday at the Five Points Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Auburn Cemetery with military gravside rites. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at Pearce funeral home with Masonic services at 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Five Points Christian Church.
