William L. Thompson, 90, passed away Sunday evening, June 9, 2019 at Goshen Hospital, Goshen, IN. Bill was born September 13, 1928 near Marshall,, IL, to Ray and Emma Gard Thompson. Following the death of Bill’s mother in 1937, Ray married Edna (Romoser) Thompson, together raising their family in Marshall, IL. Bill married Helen Joan Clark, March 11, 1950 in Marshall, IL, Joan preceded him in death, January 5, 2019. Together they were loving parents to their children, David A. Thompson (Karen) Morton, IL, Phyllis A. Smith (H. James) Goshen, IN, Jodi R. Minor (Ron), East Peoria, IL. His career included Caterpillar (East Peoria, IL), Conibear Autobody (Morton, IL), Bob Grimm Chevrolet Autobody Manager (Morton). He enjoyed storytelling, family celebrations, reading, gardening, woodworking, and the joy of Christian fellowship. Bill will be fondly remembered by his family of eight grandchildren, Joshua Smith (Atlanta, GA), Jason (Andreya) Thompson (Peoria, IL), Benjamin Smith (Goshen, IN), Paul (Cheryl) Thompson (Westmont, IL), Daniel (Kristy) Thompson, (Morton, IL) Caleb Smith (Goshen, IN), Gary Shelton (Spring Bay, IL), Sara Shelton (East Peoria, IL), and his five great grandchildren, Eli Thompson, Kaitlyn Thompson, Aubrey Thompson, Olivia Thompson, and Finely Thompson. His siblings include Ed (Mary Lee) Savoy, IL, Glen Dale (Patricia) Ridge Farm, IL, Ray (Esther) Greenup, IL, Robert (Carol) Casey, IL, Marcella Scott (Ron), Marshall, IL, Janet Hetherington, Danville, IL, Charlotte Brown (Tom), Marshall, IL, Warren (Terry) Montezuma, IN, Melvin (Jane) Marshall, IL, Wanda Pine (Rick) Marshall, IL, siblings preceded in death were Herman and Harold Dean. A celebration of life on June 29 will begin at the Pearce Funeral Home (Marshall, IL) with a 9:30 am visitation followed by a 10:30 am memorial service. The family has planned a joint committal service for Bill and Joan at Marshall Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Rev. Glen Dale Thompson (Ridge Farm, IL), and Rev.
