William A. Claypool, 80 of Marshall, IL and formerly of Baton Rouge, LA, pased away 12:06 PM Monday, August 19, 2013 at Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall. He was born on June 5, 1933 in Edgar County, IL, the son of Aruthur and Gladys Wallace Claypool. Bill served in the United States Army and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Bill was retired, having worked as a truck driver, dispatcher and earlier had worked at the U.S. Post office in Marshall. Survivors include a son, Richard (Darnell) Claypool; grandsons, William Claypool and Michael Purivs; granddaughters, Brynda Devillier, Ashleu Vessier and Danielle Nelson; step sons, Richard Elgin and Michael Elgin; step grandsons, Lee Elgin and Mason Elgin; step granddaughters, Britney Hendry, Morgan Petrash, Elizabeth Elgin, Kari Elgin and Ally Simmons; great grandchildre, Brody, Aden Gavin, Landon, and one expected in 2014; four step great grandchildre; one brother, Benny Claypool and three sisters, Hazel Erwin, Joyce Hoopingarner and Judy Hall; a brother-in-law, Irvin Harbor and a sister-in-law, Sue Cassady and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley L. Harbor on May 19, 1975 and his second wife, Sue Knigh Elgin on Feb. 29, 2004; a son, Steven Claypool, a step son, David Elgin; his step granddaughter, Amanda Simmons; a brother, Harold Claypool and a sister, Dorothy Claypool.
