William E. Pickens, 82, of Marshall, IL passed away 2:22 PM Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was a retired carpet and linoleum installer having done installations throughout the Wabash Valley at many private residences and businesses. Bill was born in the Dunlap area of Clark County, IL, the son of Clifford M. Pickens and Harriett Clark Pickens.
Surviving are three sons; John "Max" Pickens and his wife, Chambra of Terre Haute, IN, Scott Pickens and Greg Pickens and his wife Kerry of Marshall, IL; two sisters, Edith Cooper of Marshall, IL and Deloris Roberts of Terre Haute, IN; ten grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Teresa and two sisters, Clara Holaday and Farrell Savage.
He was one of the organizers of the Marshall Little League Football Association and for around 20 years was a 4-H leader of the Pikes Peak Patriots. Bill served this nation during the Korean War in the US Navy and was a member of the VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion.
Services in honor of his life will be 2:30 PM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Pastor Dan Garner officiating. Burial will be in the Dunlap Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday and prior services on Thursday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
