William Lawrence “Bill” Cook, 89, of Marshall, IL went home to be with the Lord 7:05 PM Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022 in Willowbrook of Marshall. Bill was born May 27, 1932 at Scottland, IL, the son of Lawrence Eldredge and Madge Edna Newport Cook. On Sept. 5, 1959 he married Virginia Lee Vice Cook at Redmon, IL. He was a farmer, National Director for the National Farmers Organization, Supervisor of Wabash Twp. for many years and later in life he was a security guard for Securites at TRW in Marshall and Aisin Brakes in Terre Haute, IN. Bill proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was a member of both Clark County Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975. He was a member of the Marshall First Congregational Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia; a daughter, Cheryl (Wade) Neibarger; two sons, Bill (Karen) Cook Jr. and Jamie (Pearl) Cook; grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Metzke, Anna Miller, Kaitlin Neibarger, Adam (Nicole) Cook, Mallory (Jordan) Simonton, Luke Cook, Brodee Cook and Jacob Cook; great grandchildren, Drake and Grant Metzke, Sophia and Maggie Ann Cook and a brother, Steve Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Robert and Donald. Services in honor of his life will be 1:00 PM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites.
