Agnes Miller, 96, of Marshall, IL passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 in the comfort of her home. Agnes was born April 11, 1925 at Clarksville, the daughter of Joseph Benjamin and Annette Waller Staub. She was first married to Alfred R. “Dutch” Miller and was later married to Norman Tuttle who both preceded her in death. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard, Joe, Maurice, Don and Lawrence and a sister, Patricia Wallis. Surviving are three children, Nancy Roberts of Marshall, Dennis (Debbie) Miller of Marshall and Roger Miller of Charleston, IL; three granddaughters, Dawn Roberts , Danielle (Scott) Cline and Dana (Shaun) Ramsey all of Marshall; great grandchildren, Myka Houpt, Jared Stultz, Jace Schwoebel, Liberty and Lucy Cline, Owen and Emma Ramsey; great great grandchildren, Kingston and Dregan Brinker, and Amiyah Roberts and two sisters, Kay Miller and Mary Lucas . Following graduation from Marshall High School in 1942, she aquired a beautician license from the Varner Beauty School of Paris, IL in 1943. Following her graduation from Varner Beauty School she was employed by her Aunt Odelia Miller until she opened her own shop in 1951 and operated that business for over 69 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as president from 1950 to 1951 when the Legion Auxiliary Choir entered and won its first contest and she maintained her membership and served as secretary many times. Agnes was an active member of the Clark County Association for the Handicapped and presented a haunted house on her property which served as a fund raiser for that organization. She also served as secretary for Affiliate #39 of the Illinois Hairdressers as long as the charter was active. In 2019 she was awarded the Our Lady of Good Counsel Women of Distinction from the Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women at Springfield, IL. She was also awarded the Dianna Award in 2021.. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday and from 7:00 AM to 10:45 AM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home.
