Benny Dale Claypool, 70, of Grandview, IL passed away 1:12 PM EST Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Indiana University Hospital at Indianapolis. Benny was born Dec. 8, 1946 in Clark co., IL, the sixth of seven children born to Arthur and Gladys Wallace Claypool. Benny graduated from Marshall High School in 1964. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from January 1966 to December 1967. He was a Specialist E5 Tank Driver and was stationed in Germany. He had a lifelong love of working with all mechanical objects and was an expert at figuring out how things worked. There weren't many things that Benny couldn't fix. He also had a keen sense of humor-he loved laughter and loved making people laugh. Benny worked closely with his cousin and dear friend, Kent (Denise) Claypool for many years at Kent's transmission shop and family farm. He often looked forward to joining Kent, his brothers Larry and Gary and their mother, Mildred for family time. They shared many family meals together and created countless special memories. Benny is survived by three sisters, Hazel Erwin of Paris, Joyce (Jim) Hoopingarner of Marshall and Judy (Monroe) Hall of Avon, IN; many nieces, nephews and cousins; former step-daughters, Tammy Black, Penny Comer and Connie Whitlock and many friends and former co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Harold and Bill Claypool and a sister, Dorothy Claypool. Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded. Graveside services will be held 12 Noon Sunday CST July 23rd at Marshall Cemetery with Bob Miller officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pearce Funeral Home.
