Carolyn Grace Hills, age 87, of Marshall, Illinois passed away at 7:25a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Marshall Rehabilitation Center in Marshall, Illinois. She was born on September 27, 1938, the daughter of Vernie Allen Fessenbeck and Mabel Davis Fessenbeck in Martinsville, IL. On February 25, 1955, she married James G. Hills in St Louis, MO. She is survived by her son, James A Hills (Donna)of Marshall, IL, bonus son Terry Brandt; granddaughters Marsia Fowler of Clinton, Indiana and Danesse Parker; grandsons Michael Hills (Lisa) of Tallahassee, FL, and Carl Hentrich of Marshall, IL, great granddaughters Timberlee (James) Hale of Chrisman, IL, Sara Hills of Pinetta, FL, Elizabeth Hills, of Tallahassee, FL, Shelby Hills of Tallahassee, FL, and Jamie Parker of Marshall, IL, great grandsons Walker Fowler of Marshall, IL, Ashton Fowler of Clinton, IN, Ryan Hills of Tallahassee, FL, Chris Hentrich of Terre Haute, IN, Matthew Parker of Marshall, IL and Dillon Parker of Terre Haute, IN, of ?, great great granddaughters Emily Hills of Pinetta, FL, and Athena Hills of Tallahassee, FL and great great grandsons Preston Fowler of Chrisman, IL, Rhett Hale of Chrisman, IL, Zachary Hills of Pinetta, FL, and Alex Hills of Pinetta, FL, and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, a brother, Gail Fessenbeck, sister-in laws Vivian Fessenbeck, Nita Hills, and Sandra Ulrey and brother in laws Paul Hills and Don Hills, and greatgrandson John Parker, nieces Christy Ulrey and Tracey Frazier, and great nephew Levi Newlin.Carolyn attended Martinsville High School. She was a telephone operator during the 1960’s. She was the cook for the Clark County Jail during her husband’s term as the Clark County Sheriff and then worked many years at the Clark Service Company and Bona Terra Ag in Marshall, IL. Carolyn was a very active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Casey, IL throughout her adult life, especially the children’s activities and programs.Carolyn was loved by everyone she came into contact with and will be remembered by all of the numerous lives that she touched.
