Carolyn Joan Claypool, 91, passed away 3:30 PM Thursday, October 26, 2023. She was born on June 11, 1932 and was the second of five children born to Lloyd and Audrian Linton Hendrix. She married Harold Claypool on September 24, 1952. Surviving are one daughter, Ann (Jim) Shuck; one son, Dale Claypool; two grandchildren, Marsia Fowler and Mike (Lisa) Hills; three step-grandchildren, Christopher Shuck, Joshua Shuck and Jonathan (Rebecca) Shuck; seven great-grandchildren, Timberlee Fowler, Walker Fowler, Ashton Fowler, Sarah Hills, Ryan Hills, Elizabeth Hills and Shelby Hills; five step-great grandchildren, Braiden Shuck, Cameron Shuck, Mason Shuck, Tyler Shuck and Penny Shuck; four great great grandchildren, Preston Fowler, Rhett Hale, Zachary Payne and Emily Hills; one sister, Sharon (Bob) Grieve and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Sue Claypool; one son, Keith Claypool and three siblings, Harold Hendrix, Beverly Higginbotham and Bill Hendrix. Carolyn was a lady of great character and tremendous strength, which served her well during her life. She faced all the trials life presented her with dignity, grace and great resolve. She was a graduate of Marshall High School and a member of the First Christian Church. In addition to being to being a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, she devoted over 25 years to Charles Industries before deciding to retire when she was in her 70’s. She had previously worked at TRW and in the 1950’s performed secretarial duties for Ray Burkybile. Carolyn was also a full-time caregiver for two of her children, Keith and Sue, throughout their lives. Services in honor of her life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 1st at Pearce Funeral Home.
