Carolyn L. Shotts, 80, of Marshall, IL passed away 7:56 PM Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at her home. Carolyn was born Dec. 18, 1942 in Eustis, FL to Ralph and Stella Wright Martin. She married Gene Shotts in 1961 and had been a lifelong member of the Clarksville Baptist Church where she especially enjoyed working with the Awana kids at the church. She had worked as a hairdresser, a bank teller and as a buyer for Charles Industries among other things. She loved gardening, music, traveling and spending time with her family. After retirement she and Gene enjoyed being part of the Singing Sam’s group. When Carolyn left this life at home, she was surrounded by her loving family and was listening to her favorite Elvis music. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; brother’s Wayne and Darrell Martin and a nephew Kyle Nickles. Carolyn is survived by her children, Debbie (Mike) Garling, Greg (Karen) Shotts and Dee Dee (Mike) Rhoads; grandchildren, Kristi (Gus) Garling, Josh (Brittney) Garling, Dusty (Jamie) Shotts, Tyler (Dru) Shotts, Ryan (Shelby) Hefner, Dalton (Karlee) Hefner, Connor (Zoey) Hefner, Jamie (Tim) Kiefner and Christine (Dana) Scifres. Also surviving are several great grandchildren; a brother, Ron (Donna) Martin special friends, Irene and Arnold Skor and her beloved kitten, Lady Stella Kitty. Until we meet again Mom, Grandma, “You are my Sunshine”. Visitation will be 12 Noon to 2:00 PM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home with a service in honor of her life at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the Clarksville Cemetery. Pastor Art Orndorff will officiate.
