Charles Junior Cunningham, 90, of Marshall, IL passed away 6:00 AM Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall. He was a retired equipment operator with the IL Department of Transportation. He was born October 31, 1923 in Anderson Twp., Clark Co., IL, the son of Charles Cunningham and Myrtle Scott Cunningham. He married Emma Jean Baggs on Dec. 24, 1946 at Paris, IL. Surviving are his wife: a granddaughter and her husband, Renee and James Goldsberry of Marshall; a daughter-in-law and her husband Penny and Junior Wilson of Shelburn, IN; grandchildren, Lauren, Charli Gene, Daranger Chaz and his mother Michelle Littlejohn, Presley Jane, Logan, Lanie, Blayze, Shalyn and Talon Robert and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Cunningham; a grandson, Charlie Bob Cunningham, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. He served his country in the US Army during WW II Jan. 29, 1943 to March 1, 1946. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Marshall and was an avid hunter, the sport which he enjoyed so much with his son, Bob. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his friends at the YE Olde Glass Shoppe in Marshall where he was kept up on local news. Service in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co.
