Charles N “Charley” Rose, 79, of Marshall, IL passed away peacefully at 12:05 AM Monday September 14, 2026 at The Gibson Family Hospice Center in Terre Haute, IN. Charley was born on June 2, 1947 in Paris, IL to Harold M Rose, Sr and Virginia (Guinnup) Rose. He married LuEllen Kile on July 6, 1968 at the Marshall Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall, IL. They shared 58 years together. Throughout his working years, Charley was employed by Clark County FS, Strohm Oil, Great Dane, and Jadcorp. He also worked road construction, Teamsters Local #135. Charley was a member of the Marshall High School Class of 1968. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. During his service, he was stationed in the Phillipines and Vietnam during the Vietnam War and Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, Arizona. Charley was a longtime member of Marshall Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School director during his early years. He devoted more than 45 years of his life to serving his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Marshall Fire Protection District. During his years with the department, he also served on the rescue squad and dive teams. His dedication to helping others was an important part of who he was, and his service touched countless lives throughout the community. Charley was a talented woodworker who took great pride in creating beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his yard and yearly garden, and mushroom hunting each spring. Some of his greatest joys were attending events and activities for his grandchildren and simply spending time with the people he loved. Above all, Charley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was beloved Papa who cherished his family and the time they spent together. His Kindness, dedication, hard work, and willingness to serve others will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, of 58 years, LuEllen Rose of Marshall, IL, Daughter Gretchen (Vincent) Carona of Marshall, IL, a son Christopher Eric Rose of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by five Grandchildren Brenna (Robert) DeBerry of Robinson, IL, Zia Beltz of Terre Haute, IN; Leighton Beltz of Indianapolis, IN; Amelia Rose of Sr. Louis, MO; and William Rose of Sprinfield, MO; two Great Grandchildren Robert “Robbie” Morley and Gage Brown, and One sister Martha “Marty” Rose of Bend, OR. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Judie Nave; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brent and Glenda Kile; and many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by His parents, Harold and Virginia Rose Sr.; His in-laws William “Bill” and Mary (Garner) Kile, Three Brothers Harold Rose Jr.; Ralph Rose; and Jimmy Rose; sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Linda and Tom Kykendall; and brother-in-law, Jerry Nave. Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Thursday September 17, 2026 with Bro. Paul Cooper Officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until Service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Marshall Fire Protection District or to Marshall Baptist Church.
