Charles Ray Kallansa, 71, of Brazil, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away 9:00 AM Friday, June 26, 2015 in Putman County Hospital at Greencastle, IN.
As a young man he was a carpenter and later became a driver for Schwermin Trucking Co. at Greencastle, IN and later drove for Terre Max Farms.
Charles was born March 2, 1944 at Marshall, IL, the son of the late Charles A. Kallansa and Bernadine Carter Kallansa. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Reba Faye Kallansa on August 9, 2013; a brother, Virgil Kallansa and a sister, Thelma Birdwell. Surviving are two sons, Robert Charles Kallansa and Milo Eugene Kallansa both of Brazil, IN; a grandson, Auston Cooper Kallansa and three sisters, Eleanor Macke, Anna B. Cooper, Colleen Lee and her fianc̩e, Bill Hansel all of Marshall, IL.
He served this nation in the US Army for two years and was a member of VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. A true outdoorsman, he truly loved to hunt and fish. He was a gun collector and gunsmith.
Services in honor of his life will be 1:00 PM CST Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Bro. John Cutshall officiating. Burial will be beside his wife in St. Mary's Cemetery of Marshall with military graveside rites provided by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Ducks Unlimited.
