Coral M. Washburn, age 88, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, at her home in Martinsville, IL.Coral was born January 16, 1938 at home in Martinsville, IL, the daughter of Vinton Cyrus “VC” and Inez Thornburgh Reed. On April 13, 1955, she married Ralph Eugene “Gene” Washburn at her parent’s home in rural Martinsville, IL and he preceded her in death on February 17, 2018. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Rondel Neil Reed on January 17, 1937, a daughter, Penni Lori Gross on November 20, 2007, and a grandson-in-law, Edward Krynock on December 10, 2017. Surviving are a daughter, Angi Staley Herrington of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren, Carmel Staley Krynock Barmes (Scott) of Indianapolis, IN, Tommy Lee Staley (Melissa) of Carmel, IN, Derek Reed Gross (Susan) of South Bend, IN, and Trevor Lee Gross (Paige) of Marshall, IL, great grandchildren, Eddie, Katie, and Benji Krynock, MacKenzie and Ayden Barmes, Soren, Arlo, and Leland Staley, Lily Penni and Adalynn Gross, Elliott Mae and Deacon Gross, great-great grandchild Pharaoh Barmes, and many other relatives and friends. Coral was a 1955 graduate of Martinsville High School. She was thankful to be a devoted homemaker and farm alongside her husband and parents. She was a faithful member of the Martinsville Bible Church. Coral loved to spend her time crocheting and volunteering at the Marshall Ministerial Alliance Thrift Shop. She was well known in her community and very proud of her small town. Coral’s greatest joy was knowing the Lord as her Saviour and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Martinsville Bible Church with Pastor David Wilson and Pastor Ray Schollenbruch officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the service at Martinsville Bible Church, 509 E. Ridgelawn Rd. Martinsville, IL.
