Darren Lee Higgins, 55, of Marshall, IL passed away 4:00 PM Thursday, March 25, 2021 in Gibson Family Center for Hospice at Terre Haute, IN. He was born May 27, 1965 at Paris, IL, the son of Darrell and Cathie Graham Higgins. On March 1, 1999 he married Gayle Rigdon at Las Vegas, NV. Surviving are his wife, Gayle ; children, Derek (Kayla) of Marshall, Aaron (Megan) of Terre Haute, IN, Cayla of Paris, IL, Darrell “Cub” II of Marshall and Clayton of Kansas, IL; grandchildren, Haylee Higgins and Dalton Higgins; his parents, Darrell and Cathie Higgins of Marshall; a sister, Deb Higgins of O’Fallon, IL and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Darren was the proud owner, along with his wife Gayle, of The Lions Den for over 17 years. He loved employing several of the local high school kids and teaching them the importance of a good work ethic. Darren was a big supporter of the Marshall community – especially the sports programs and enjoyed watching his athletes play. Darren loved pizza like no other and built his business around the best pizza in town. He was a prankster and loved to joke around with everyone. He loved giving people a nick name for fun and it usually stuck. Darren was notorious for wearing his shirts with the sleeves cut off year round. In his free time he enjoyed camping, wood working, playing cards, the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with his family which he was most proud of. A public visitation will be held 3:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home with a private service in honor of his life following . Pastor Tim Duke will officiate. It is requested that face coverings be worn during the visitation and that those visiting keep their visit short so more people can attend.
