Donald N. Bickers, 79, of Marshall, IL passed away 4:23 PM Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at Terre Haute, IN. He retired as a dispatcher for the Sullivan, IL police department and moved to Marshall in 2008 to be nearer to family. On Sept. 10, 1966 he married the love of his life, Rose Mary Kremer, in St. Rose Catholic Church at Montrose and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Lynn (Curt) Smith and Todd Bickers both of Marshall, IL; grandchildren, Derick (Courtney) Davidson, Taylor (Christian) Cochonour and Jacob Davidson; a great- granddaughter, RaeLynn Davidson; two sister-in-laws, Janet Bickers and Charlotte Bickers and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Jesse Bickers and a sister, Linda Joyce Bickers. Don was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall, Clark Co. Knights of Columbus and the Masonic Lodge #69 AF&AM of Sullivan, IL. He served this nation in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post#68 of Sullivan, IL where he was a past commander. He had a passion for music and loved to sing and play guitar. He also loved to bowl, golf, play baseball in his younger years and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. The most important love of his life was God as well as his family, who he loved to spend time with. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, Sept. 16th in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 414 S. 6th St. Marshall, IL with Rev. Augustine Koomson officiating. Burial will be 12 Noon Friday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery at Montrose, IL with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., Marshall, IL.
