Floyd A. Hamilton, 95, of Terre Haute, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away 9:02 PM Friday, May 11, 2012 in Regional Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. He was born April 20, 1917 in Wabash Twp., of Clark Co., IL, the son of William and Elsie Baggs Hamilton. Floyd grew up in the Marshall area becoming an operating engineer before WW II. during this period he worked on the Alaskan-Canadian Highway Project. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII returning to Marshall in 1944 following the accidental loss of a hand. He was a member of the Internation Union of Operating Engineers and was employed in many major construction project in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Sout Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Upon his retirment in 1982, Floyd held the record in his local union organization for the most number of hours worked. Floyd was active in the American Legion, Mason and Moose Lodge in the Marshall and Paris area. He is usurved by his loving wife, Hahn, a brother, Harold Hamilton of Marshall; a sister, Irene Nuno of Ventura, CA, two sons, Gerald Hamilton of Lovettsville, VA and Ronald Hamilton of New Castle, KY; 6 grandchildren and 8 gret grandchildren. Masonice services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday with funeral services following at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be one-hour prior services. Memorial contributions may be made to Moose Heart.
